Almond Milk

This is so much better than store bought! Plus, you can use the almonds for recipes. Check out my Snack Bites.

1 cup Almonds, Sliced or Chopped and Soaked for 2 to 3 hours in filtered/distilled Water

1/8 teaspoon Cinnamon, organic is nice (optional)

1/2 teaspoon Vanilla, pure (optional)

Honey or Maple Syrup to taste, I like 2 tablespoons (optional)

Distilled/Filtered Water

Directions: Have a bowl or one of those glass measuring cups that holds 8 cups (this is what I use) out and draped with cheesecloth or other thin material for straining. I use a cotton cloth napkin that I can wash and reuse.

Pour soaked almonds and water into a food processor and blitz about three times for 20 seconds then pour it into the cloth-lined glass bowl.

Now it’s time to gather up the material that was draped over the sides of the bowl and start to twist the material.

Almond milk will run into the bowl. Keep twisting material and squeezing the ball of almonds until you can’t get anymore milk out.

When you set the material down and look at the ground almonds they should be pretty dry.

Pour the almond milk into a quart jar then add the spices and honey. Now you can add water to fill up jar. I usually fill to the upper curve so I’m getting about 3 cups but you can fill it to the level you like. Leave some space at the top though.

Put the lid on and shake the sh…mess out of the jar. This doesn’t take long. You are just blending it.

You’ll need to shake it before each use because the spices will settle at the bottom of the jar and the milk can separate from the water. See pic below.



Now you have almond milk that is healthy and tastes great!

Store in fridge for 4-6 days.

Note: You can change the spices to your taste or needs. Like adding 1/8 teaspoon organic Turmeric to aid in joint health.

I’ll also pour an ounce of almond milk into a small cup and stir in 1/8 teaspoon Turmeric and 1/4 teaspoon Calcium Carbonate or 1 teaspoon Powdered Wheatgrass. Add what you need. This gives you a shot of vitamins without adding the spice or supplement to the whole batch of milk

Chocolate Almond Milk add in 1 to 2 teaspoons Cacao powder.

Unsweetened Cacao powder fights fat and is anti-aging!

If you plan on using the almonds in a recipe or on a salad store them in a container in the fridge. They should last several days. I generally use them within 2 to 4 days.
